Conventional hearing aids make sounds from outside the ear, and then expand the sound and play it on the inner ear. There is a hearing known as bone conduction hearing aids, these work very differently from conventional hearing aids.
Bone conduction hearing aids pick up sounds from the outside world, however, these headphones transmit the signal of an oscillator, rather than play the sound back to the inner ear. This oscillator vibrates against the skull, the inner ear is able to capture and interpret the vibrations as sound.
Conventional hearing aids are much more effective than bone conduction hearing aids. However, bone conduction hearing aids are designed for people who are unable to use traditional forms of hearing aid. If the ear canal is blocked as in atresia after a normal headset is practically useless, a bone conduction hearing aid, however, is much more useful.
If you have ear infections or eczema then you may be unable to use conventional hearing aids, so it has to do with bone conduction hearing aids. If the canal is limited, or narrower than normal and then a bone conduction hearing aid may be required.
Bone conduction aids are perfectly suitable for children, and are also ideal for people who suffer temporary hearing loss.
Less than 1% of users of headphones use bone conduction hearing aids, so it can be difficult to locate. If you need to be sure you talk to your audiologist.
Bone conduction hearing aids are able to perfectly reproduce the sound, the sound is somewhat similar to the phone.
Also the sound generated by bone conduction hearing aids is only mono, not stereo. The hearing aid user is able to say that the sound actually comes from because of this.
A bone conduction hearing aid uses a tape to hold everything in place, sometimes awkward, to be effective because the tape must be kept tight.
When these new headphones are designed to be installed on the windows. At the time that it was common to have diluted their lenses, so it was possible to place a small device in the frames of the thick glasses, so that vibrations will be felt.
The last bone conduction hearing aid to use surgery to implant a device. This works directly on the bone, making it less irritating to the user. The device also requires less energy to operate, and less distortion as a result.
